Olympic and Paralympic Celebration Event

This section of the thematic unit helps you to plan a celebration event based on the Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is based on adapting sports day for the older children in the school to give it an Olympic and Paralympic theme. If you have a whole school sports day, you will need to adapt some of the activities for younger children.

The event provides an opportunity to celebrate the learning that has taken place throughout the whole thematic unit. You will find references to many of the classroom and PE activities throughout this section.

As the Rio2016 Paralympic Games are being held from the 7th -18th September 2016, there is the opportunity to focus PE activities on the sporting achievements of those with disabilities and try out some paralympic sports during the 2016 Autumn term.
