Summer Awarding 2023

CCEA has confirmed its approach to awarding qualifications in the academic year 2022/2023.

Regulators across the UK are agreed that a return to pre-pandemic arrangements as soon as possible is important, while continuing to take account of the disruption experienced by students in recent years. To that end, CCEA will continue the journey back to pre-pandemic standards in awarding its qualifications in 2023 and expects to achieve this by 2024.

CCEA has been working with stakeholders to develop this approach. The key message from this engagement was the need to have an approach that ensures that Northern Ireland students can progress to the next stage of their learning pathway.

To provide additional support for students this year, Advance Information will be provided for the majority of qualifications. This is intended to help students prepare for their examinations in summer 2023.

CCEA’s Interim Chief Executive, Leah Scott welcomed the approach as follows:

This announcement is another positive step forward for students taking CCEA qualifications in 2022/23, following the disruption caused by COVID 19. I would like to thank Heads of Centre, teachers, and parents who supported students in the return to examinations. Today’s announcement continues to build on the progress already made, whilst keeping students at the centre of our approach.
