Help Your Child Practise their Tables
Not every child finds it easy to memorise their tables. These videos and work cards allow your child to explore using a grid to find the answers to multiplication and division tables that they need.
1. Watch
Watch how multiplication and division are so closely connected that they are like part of the same family.
Top tip: Using this grid is not as quick as knowing your tables but it is a great way to practise them.
2. Practise
Practise multiplying using the Multiplication and Division Grid and then watch how Max did it to check how you got on.
Next practise dividing using the Multiplication and Division Grid and then watch how David did it to check how you got on.
Top tip: Everyone learns differently so try as many different methods as you need until you find what works for you.
3. Have Fun
Have fun fun finding tables with the MaD grid – MaD stands for multiplying and dividing but also for Max and David.
When you really understand something some people say that the ‘penny has dropped, so this is your ‘Penny Drop’ card.
Top tip: If you find this MaD grid helpful you can use it until you are ready to let it go.
