On 15 April, Ofqual published a consultation on the exceptional arrangements that it plans to put in place for GCSEs, AS and A levels in England in response to the cancellation of the Summer 2020 examination series.

The proposals in the consultation reflect the direction given to Ofqual by the Secretary of State for Education and apply to the following awarding organisations: AQA, Pearson, OCR, and Eduqas. However, as centres in NI can choose to take their qualifications with these awarding organisations, the arrangements outlined in this consultation will affect them and their students where this is the case.

In its consultation, Ofqual is proposing that the same arrangements should apply to all students who were planning to take their qualifications with the above awarding organisations this summer, including students in NI.

Ofqual considers that to issue results on any other basis to students outside England could be unfair and introduce unnecessary logistical risk into the process this summer.

Those students and centres in NI, therefore, who are taking GCSE, AS or A level qualifications with AQA, Pearson, OCR and/or Eduqas, may want to respond to Ofqual’s consultation. It can be found by following the link below:
