CCEA publishes Occupational Studies, Vocational and Entry Level qualifications Summer 2021 Alternative Arrangements - Process for Heads of Centre

CCEA has now published the guidance and process for schools and colleges on how the alternative awarding arrangements for Summer 2021 CCEA’s Occupational Studies, Vocational Qualifications and Entry Level Qualifications will operate following the cancellation of this year’s exams by the Minister of Education, Peter Weir MLA.

Grades for these qualifications will be arrived at using teacher professional judgements, known as Centre Determined Grades, with moderation. In determining these grades, a five-step awarding process will be followed as outlined by the Minister.

The guidance outlines how centres will provide grades by using a range of evidence to arrive at a professional and academic judgement of the standard at which a student is performing in the context of the specification for which they are entered. The aim of the document is to enhance knowledge and understanding of the alternative awarding process, to provide clarity and detail on the technical aspects of the process and to enable consistency of approach in all schools across Northern Ireland.

Further updates and information on the summer 2021 awarding arrangements is available at ccea.org.uk/summer-2021. Teachers can also subscribe for subject specific information at ccea.org.uk/sign-up, with updates also posted on our social media channels.
