CCEA Platinum Jubilee 2022 resource now available

A fun, inspiring and engaging resource for schools, to mark the Platinum Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II is now live.
The Education Minister, Michelle McIlveen has launched a new set of Jubilee Curriculum Resources designed by CCEA.
The Jubilee Curriculum Resources Project form part of the Platinum Jubilee Education Programme developed to mark Her Majesty the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee and will guide pupils through a wide range of topics spanning her historic 70-year reign.
Speaking at the launch of the programme in Victoria Primary School in Newtownards, the Minister said:
I welcome the creation of these inspiring and engaging resources for schools. They will enable pupils to participate in various activities as part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations, including research, discussion, debate and creative thought about Queen Elizabeth’s II’s reign and the concept of monarchies.”
Fully aligned with the Northern Ireland Curriculum, the programme will be targeted at Key Stage 2 and Key Stage 3 pupils and teachers in both mainstream and special school settings.
The resources include:
- An animation: Coronation Day, 2 June 1953;
- A timeline of the life and reign of the Queen;
- A PowerPoint focusing on the Jubilee milestones;
- A SWAY resource: What is a monarchy?;
- Interactive maps: an online resource to educate about the Queen’s links with Northern Ireland, the Republic of Ireland and across the world; and
- Lesson Plans: Key Stage 3, Key Stage 2, SEN (MLD) - some activities may be of interest to Key Stage 1.
Pupils will have opportunities to participate in varied and engaging activities – to research, discuss, debate, be creative and to think critically about the concept of monarchies.
