CCEA launches RSE Hub May 2023

CCEA has launched a Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) Hub, containing a range of resources and topics to support the learning and teaching of RSE. These resources include guidance for teachers within a new Progression Framework.

Since 2019, CCEA has been developing a comprehensive body of resources to support the effective delivery of RSE. Housed on CCEA’s RSE Hub at Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE), these are intended to provide a valuable source of information for schools, teachers, children and young people, and parents.

RSE is a topic relevant to different aspects of the curriculum and forms a statutory component of the following key areas of learning:

  • Personal Development and Mutual Understanding in the primary curriculum;
  • Personal Development and Home Economics statements of requirement for Key Stage 3; and
  • Personal Development strand of Learning for Life and Work at Key Stage 4.

The Hub and new Progression Framework is designed to be dynamic and current, providing schools with the flexibility to deliver an effective programme of RSE, in line with their school ethos, to ensure the wide-ranging needs of our young people are met.

A spokesperson for the Department of Education said:

The Department welcomes publication of these two important resources which will support schools to deliver quality Relationships and Sexuality Education for all our children and young people.
