The CCEA GCE Irish specification aims to develop students’ enthusiasm for and understanding of the language and culture in a variety of contexts.

Students learn to communicate confidently, clearly and effectively in Irish for a range of purposes. They also develop knowledge and understanding of themes relating to the society and culture, past and present, of a community where Irish is spoken.

The CCEA GCE Music specification allows students to create and perform music which expresses their own interests and style.

This specification is available at two levels: AS and A2. Students can take the AS units plus the A2 units for a full GCE A level qualification. They can also choose to take the AS course as a stand-alone qualification.

The CCEA GCSE Irish specification develops students’ enthusiasm for the language while increasing their confidence in the four key skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing.

The CCEA GCSE Music specification is for everyone who loves music: composing, playing an instrument, listening to music, or using music technology. It encourages students to develop their musical potential by focusing on performing, composing and listening.

Students can explore a range of music, including classical, pop, film, and traditional Irish music. This deepens their appreciation of the diverse heritage of music and promotes their personal, social, intellectual and cultural development.

OLA uses a series of short, manageable and clearly defined steps to help learners progress through the early stages of language learning.
