Belfast Giants

The Belfast Giants is an ice hockey team from Belfast that competes in the Elite Ice Hockey League. The Giants originated in 2000 and played their first match against Ayr on 1 December 2000. The Giants won the Super League in 2001–02 and were play-off champions in 2002–03. The Super League ceased to exist after 2003 and the new Elite Ice Hockey League was created for the 2003–04 season. The Giants finished fourth in the League’s 2003–04 season and runners-up in the 2004–05 season. The 2020–21 Elite League season has been cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic. The Belfast Giants has been added to EA Sports’ NHL 20 game, which is an ice hockey simulation video game developed by EA Vancouver. This enables players to take control of the Giants in the Champions Hockey League.
