Belfast Zoo
Belfast zoo opened in 1934. It is located on the Cavehill off the Antrim Road, Belfast. It is one of the oldest award-winning visitor attractions in Northern Ireland. The zoo is home to more than 130 species, most of which are in danger in their natural habitat. The zoo carries out vital conservation work, both in Northern Ireland and around the world which helps to ensure the future survival of species under threat. In 2017 one of the oldest animals, Tina the elephant, died aged 54. Belfast zoo had been her home for 51 years, she had lived a long and happy life there.
