Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones is one of the most popular and successful television series ever made. It ran for eight series from 2011 to 2019. Filming took place in around 25 locations around Northern Ireland. The primary location for the first season was the Paint Hall Studios (Titanic Quarter) Belfast. Other seasons were filmed in locations around the province, including The Dark Hedges, Ballintoy Harbour, Tollymore Forest Park and Marble Arch Caves. The series provided positive publicity for Northern Ireland and encouraged visitors. By 2019, 16 percent of annual visitors came to Northern Ireland to see Game of Thrones locations.
