Inez McCormack

Inez McCormack (1943– 2013) was a Northern Irish trade union leader and human rights activist. Inez began her professional life as a social worker in West Belfast. She campaigned for equal pay and stronger equality laws for women. She was the first woman in a number of high-profile roles and became the director of UNISON, the largest trade union in the UK. In 2006, she founded Participation and Practice of Rights (PPR), a human rights organisation based in Belfast. PPR supports marginalised groups to overcome the social and economic challenges they experience. Inez McCormack was one of the most influential civil rights leaders in Northern Ireland. Throughout her career, she crossed sectarian lines and national boundaries to fight for those who have faced, ‘the humiliation of exclusion’ particularly women.
