The Peace Bridge, Derry/Londonderry
The Peace Bridge is a cycle and foot bridge across the River Foyle in Derry/Londonderry, Northern Ireland. It opened on 25 June 2011. It has two large arms pointing in opposite directions. This symbolises the two communities living on opposite sides of the river. The bridge itself represents a symbolic handshake across the river, bringing the two communities together. The Peace Bridge has become an integral part of the city’s infrastructure and has changed the way local people use and view their city.
