Ulster American Folk Park

The Ulster American Folk Park is an open-air museum near Omagh, County Tyrone. It tells the story of emigration from Ulster to America in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. It was originally developed around the Mellon House, the birthplace of Irish-American banker and lawyer Thomas Mellon. Now there are many restored original buildings with connections to local families. Here you will experience what it was like for those first emigrants. You can taste samples of traditional Irish and American foods, wander through the buildings, board a full-scale ship and experience the conditions those who set off for America faced. Each year in August the Ulster American Folk Park holds the Bluegrass Music Festival. Artists and bands from America, Ireland and around the world perform, attracting thousands of tourists.
