Van Morrison, born in the 1940s, Belfast, is a famous singer-songwriter. He began his career as a teenager in the late 1950s, playing a variety of instruments. He has had many successful albums. He is known to his fans as Van the man. The style of his music is described as Celtic soul, although other styles also influence his music. He has won various music awards. In 2016, he was knighted for services to the music industry and to tourism in Northern Ireland. He became Sir George Ivan Morrison OBE
